Yippie Ki-Yay It’s Mardi Gras

Happy Mardi Gras everyone. And what better way to celebrate the holiday with a tribute to one of my favorite Alpha Males on the Big Screen…

John McClane

“John McClane is known for his unwavering manliness and his philosophies of biblical proportions.”

Just Another Day

I shiver to think what would happen if John McClane came to New Orleans during Mardi Gras. But, I do believe he would enjoy the festivities. And what better way to celebrate Mardi Gras then with a chance to “catch” something! We are throwing a $25 Fandango gift card to one lucky U.S. winner. (See Rafflecopter Below)

I was asked to share my action-packed lifestyle — and really us book readers are about as action-packed as the last Urban Fantasy book we read. But, I do happen to get a little crazy during Carnival. Busting through streets filled with drunken revelers, leaping after floats with plastic cups on the brain, defending my group from roving ten year old boys that are intent on stealing that pair of thong underwear that was intended for my mom….

Happy Mardi Gras Ya’ll. Share your action-packed stories in comments to get in the DIE HARD mood.

Pay special attention to the last option in Rafflecopter. 20th Century Fox wants you to share you favorite John McClane lines. Tweet them out using the hashtag #BookofJohnMcClane and you can get an extra entry each day.

  1. I love the Die Hard movies. I’m really excited about the new one. My favorite scene right now is when John takes the helicopter out with the car in Live Free or Die Hard. It was so badass! I love all the movies though and can think of favorite scenes from every movie.

    • OH yes — and the nerdy guy asks him if he ever flew one of those before…that was a great scene.

  2. My son says he likes the scene when John MacClane duct tapes the pistol to his back in the first movie.

  3. There isn’t anything John can’t do. He’s a little bit crazy but awesome. Love how the end of the movies always show his softer side, like with his daughter.

  4. The iconic scene, or quote, “Yippee-ki-yay, motherfucker.”, of course. ;)

  5. Mardi-Gras sounds like fun! But I imagine with living there it makes it different.

    • Oh it is very fun! I love this city. Wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.

  6. My favorite line is the “Yippee Kai A MF” Can’t help it…it’s the f-bomb. The most action packed stuff I do is travelling and haunting houses in October. It’s a lot of work to scare people!

    • It is — and his gravelly voice…makes the quote. Haunted Houses. How fun!

  7. I like riding small rollercoasters…I know maybe not too action packed…but it’s a big thing for me :)

    • I’m a rollercoaster scardy cat. So more power to you chick!

  8. I LOVE the scene when John McClane swings on a rope through the broken window. Oh, and pissing contest between John and his wife’s boss. That guy was such a little girl! OOoooo….and the helicopter! I just love that darn movie! Time to watch it again!

  9. I guess my most daredevil thing is when I went ziplining in Mexico. At least I considered it pretty daredevil-ish.

    • That is crazy! I want to do that though.

  10. I like to snowboard and skydive

    • Oh wow! I’ve always wanted to skydive. I would be a total spaz as far as snowboarding, though.

  11. I love a little Die Hard! That is what me and my real life action figure are going to go see on V-day!

  12. the part in die hard with sam jackson when he was on the elevator and saw his fellow cops badge on the bad guy and realize he was in there with the killers and joked his way to killing all of them
