Welcome to the Feature & Follow

Increase Blog FollowersThe Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee’s View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to show off more new blogs!

We have a new button. What do you think?

How does this work? First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools — keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them “hi” in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you!

What sets this Hop apart from others, is our Feature. Each week we will showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Who is our Feature today? Find out below. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow our Features and you must follow the hosts (Parajunkee & Alison Can Read) as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your #FF post. A lot of blogs are transitioning to WordPress in which they do not have the luxury of GFC, so an RSS subscription is appreciated or if you choose an email subscription. If you don’t have GFC please state in your post how you would like to be followed.

All features are chosen randomly to be the feature. They are not chosen by content or name.

Our Feature is Jelly of Jelly’s Insider

When did you start blogging?
January 2013. I am a newbie though I have been writing reviews on goodreads for a year now.

What is your favorite part of book blogging?
Meeting new people. As cliche as that sounds, I love people! Unfortunately, nobody in my life is as much of a book nerd as I am. If I can’t find someone to confess my book obsessions to, I’ll explode. I think the whole book blog community is a great way for authors, publishers, and readers to get together and share their interest.

What type of books do you mainly blog about?
Mostly YA fantasy, paranormal, and dystopian fiction. I also like adult urban fantasy, paranormal romance, and New Adult romances!

What is your favorite book(s)?
Hard question. I really hate choosing favorites. My current favorites are Moira Young’s Dustland series, Laini Taylor’s Daughter of Smoke and Bone series, Susan Ee’s Angelfall, and Ann Aguirre’s Razorland series.

What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?
You mean besides being featured? Everything! It’s hard to say because I am still so new. This answer goes back to question two. I have met some lovely people around here that write very entertaining reviews. Everyone I have met so far is very sweet. I am very excited to make new memories with other bloggers.

This weeks Question:

We always talk about books that WE want. Let’s turn it on its head. What books have you given other people lately?

A few members of my family really like to read, but for some reason they enjoy trendy books, probably because they like to talk about them with other readers. So, I brought them copies of Beautiful Creatures, Ender’s Game, The Host…books that will be movies in 2013. Also, I gave my SIL the first Fever book, Dreamfever. I need to spread my love for Barons to someone else.

    • Put your Blog name & URL in the Linky thing. You can also grab the code if you would like to insert it into your posts.
    • Grab the button up there and place it in a post, this post is for people to find a place to say “hi” in your comments and that they are now following you.
    • If you are using WordPress or another CMS that doesn’t have GFC (Google Friends Connect) state in your posts how you would like to be followed
    • Follow Follow Follow as many as you can, as many as you want, or just follow a few. The whole point is to make new friends and find new blogs. Also, don’t just follow, comment and say hi. Another blogger might not know you are a new follower if you don’t say “HI”
    • If someone comments and says they are following you, be a dear and follow back. Spread the Love…and the followers
    • If you’re new to the follow Friday hop, comment and let me know, so I can stop by and check out your blog!

Happy Follow Friday!

  1. Great question, and I LOVE the new button!

  2. It’s pretty much just my mom and me that are the readers in my family. I tried getting my younger brother into Harry Potter back when they were coming out. A new one would come out and I would buy 2 copies, one for him & one for me. Unfortuately he never was much of a reader. He did get my mom a Nook though and I got her account set up and she’s really been enjoying it. Old follower. My FF

  3. Love that your spreading the Barron’s love around! ;) The other books you gifted are also good – wish they didn’t have to make a movie of everything though!

  4. I think your button looks great and very attention-grabbing :)

I love having readers in the family too! Especially when we discuss among ourselves the highs and lows of the books we have read.

    Old follower via Linky :)

I haven’t given a physical book in a long time! My FF

  5. I love sharing with family if only my family were readers LOL I bought Beautiful Creatures but sad about the book I got thought I was getting the purple cover and got the movie cover, oh well! Happy FF

My sister is a reader, but she lives sooo far away!! It would be cheaper for her to buy her own book, than me to buy it and post it!!

  9. Great question this week, and I love the new button. I can’t get it to link up though :( I hope you don’t mind if I copy it to my computer and upload it myself – the alt text will be feature and follow with Parajunkee and Alison Can Read.

  10. New button is LOVE! :D

  11. I really like hearing about people buying books for others. I think it’s great you have a circle of readers around you. Even if they end up disliking a book, you can still discuss the plot, etc.

  12. Hi!

That’s nice that you buy people books and then you can discuss it with them! I don’t usually give people books as most of the people I know don’t like reading :(

I followed you via RSS a couple of days ago! :)

  13. Hi :) I begin to do this Follow Friday and I love it :) It’s a good way to speak about book without an official review :D

  14. Awww some really lovely books to gift!
    Here’s my FF

Please stop by and enter my INT giveaway too!

  15. No one in my family but me loves reading as much as I do. Well, lately I’ve heard that my cousin has been reading The Host and The Hunger Games but I’m pretty sure that’s it.

    ~Stephanie @ Bookfever

  16. My mom’s the other reader in my family, so I’m always getting her to read the books I’ve loved so we can talk about it. And she’s even become a fan of some of the series I love, like Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, etc. It’s awesome having someone who reads as much as you do!

And I love the new button!

  17. A lot of my friends/ family tend to read trendy books too!! Sigh, anyways great idea on gifting what will be turned into a movie this year! I love that you found someone to pass on Dreamfever to – I’ve recommended it but no luck so far haha!

Oh and I LOVE the new button but for some reason I couldn’t add it to my post either…it kept moving around in my post & changing my formatting…even after I removed it :(

  18. Loving the new button!!

Haven’t got many readers in my family really, my sister and my parents do read just not as often as I do.

I end up giving trendy books too. Do drop by my FF. Happy Friday!

  19. I love the new button!!

I am getting a little overwhelmed by the amount of books becoming movies, but I’m glad that the people who read trendy books will be introduced to more of them due to the fact they’re becoming movies.
    So there’s a plus.
    Great choices for book gifts!

  20. Hi Rachel, checking in with a new blog featuring supernatural fiction. Great question & answer; Ender’s Game is a classic, for sure. Haven’t read Beautiful Creatures yet, but it’s on my list now that I’ve seen the movie trailers!
