What is your earliest memory?
My fingers delving into our collie’s thick coat. I was three.
What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?
Fear.
And in others?
Dishonesty.
Property aside, what’s the most expensive thing you’ve bought?
Our children’s education.
What is your favourite smell?
The ocean.
What is your favourite book?
Jane Eyre.
Which word do you most overuse?
It’s actually a phrase, “I’m thinking…”
What is your guiltiest pleasure?
Lush Bath Bombs.
To whom would you most like to say sorry and why?
My father.
What is the worst thing anyone’s said to you?
“I don’t like who you have become.”
Who is the greatest love of your life?
I’ve fallen in love in many times. Your heart can expand with each precious encounter and it is foolish to measure the love of one against the love of another. How could I love one kid more than another? Impossible.
What was the best kiss of your life?
There was rain, and longing, and a tall, strong man.
Which living person do you most despise and why?
Up to now I haven’t met a living person who I despised, though I have met a few thousand who’ve pissed me off.
When did you last cry, and why?
Christmas—my kids framed the front cover of The Trouble With Fate.
How do you relax?
Bathtub + good book + bubbles + glass of wine = good times.
What is the closest you’ve come to death?
It happened on a narrow bridge during a thunderstorm. The driver lost control and took his car and passengers for a violent spin. The first impact of wall and car hurled me forward—in a split second, I was transformed from “Girl on 2nd date” to “Leigh, the human cannonball.” You know that thing about time slowing? It’s true. In slow mo, I saw rain drops pinging off the windshield; I saw the concrete wall beyond that. And I had ample time to think, “This is going to hurt.” Fortunately, my date saw me sailing toward the windshield, nabbed the leg of my jeans and jerked me down. The car hit and we spun again, but by that time I was safely performing my own revolutions in the foot well of the backseat. But I do remember thinking, “Am I really doing a somersault in the back seat of an Impala?”
I’ve never liked bridges or Impalas since.
What is your greatest achievement?
No personal achievement will make me as proud as the fact that I raised two kids who grew up to be brave, kind, and strong.
What keeps you awake at night?
Hormones.
How would you like to be remembered?
Fondly.

My guiltiest pleasure? I don’t consider books to be them, because books are food for the soul.
Hmmmm.. I like having breakfast for dinner. A lot. My mom used to do that when my brother and I were kids and she was having a stressful day. Breakfast meant easy and fast.
My guiltiest pleasure is definitely my kindle fire that has over 900 books on it.

My guiltiest pleasure is reading anywhere and everywhere. I love that I can read books on my iPhone and I read any time I get a chance. Besides that it is eating dessert, although I try to find low cal choices, I love to eat dessert every day.
Books and my kindle fire are my guily pleasures.
