Romancing the Weekends: Yours, Mine and Howls by Kinsey W. Holley
PJV Quickie: I’m kind of picky about my shapeshifter romance and Ms. Holley got this one right: Great characters, a fae mystery, and interesting pack dynamics made ‘Yours, Mine and Howls’ a book I couldn’t put down.
Ally Kendall has been caring for her younger cousin, Dylan, since she was killed trying to protect him from his enraged werewolf father. She doesn’t know how or why she came back to life five hours after she died, but she did, and she’s been caring for Dylan for thirteen years now. They live in Houston with her BFF Seth, who’s a beta wolf, and another beta, Dec, who moved in with them about four years ago. They’re not really a pack though, and she knows the 18-year-old wolf needs a real pack. When they find out Dylan has relatives in a pack in Colorado, she knows a move will be best for Dylan, even if he ends up leaving her for pack life. What she doesn’t expect is the sexy alpha and his adorable daughter to steal her heart.
Cade MacDougall saw his parents die when he was a child, and he’s vowed to kill the fae who killed his father. A few years ago Cade came back to Colorado to take over his father’s pack. He’s struggling to make other packs recognize his ‘new’ pack and at the same time raise his young daughter Becca (who thinks she’s a cat in a pack full of wolves) as a single dad. Living on his ranch and running his pack, he’s happy to meet and welcome young Dylan, but nothing prepares him for Ally – feisty, beautiful, and unusually strong and fast. There’s something different about Ally but he can’t figure out what it is and she won’t tell him. Throw in a mysterious man following Dylan, a vicious pack alpha out for revenge, and family secrets dying to be revealed, and Cade is in for more than one challenge .
I can’t say enough how much I enjoyed Yours,Mine and Howls; I don’t know why I waited so long to read this book! This was an interesting world to read – supernaturals are out and living among regular humans. I loved the pack and Cade was a delicious alpha. Ally is a great heroine: she’s protective of Dylan and she’s been the ‘alpha’ of their little ‘pack’ but now she’s not the top dog and is having a hard time handing her wolves over to Cade. The other plotlines blend well into the story, keeping the reader interested and wanting to know what happens next. Ms. Holley writes great characters that I’d love to see again. I enjoyed Yours, Mine and Howls so much I immediately bought the next book in the series, Ready to Run. (Ready to Run contains different characters in the same world)
I highly recommend for fans of paranormal romance: Yours, Mine and Howls will not disappoint!
