Feature and Follow #131

Welcome to the Feature & Follow

Gain New Blog FollowersIncrease Blog Followers, gain Book Blog Followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature & Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers — but you have to know — the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee’s View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to show off more new blogs!

How does this work? First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools — keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them “hi” in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you!

What sets this Hop apart from others, is our Feature. Each week we will showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Who is our Feature today? Find out below. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow our Features and you must follow the hosts (Parajunkee & Alison Can Read) as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your #FF post. A lot of blogs are transitioning to WordPress in which they do not have the luxury of GFC, so an RSS subscription is appreciated or if you choose an email subscription. If you don’t have GFC please state in your post how you would like to be followed.

All features are chosen randomly to be the feature. They are not chosen by content or name.

Our Feature is Orchid @ The Haunting of Orchid Forsythia

When did you start blogging?
I started my blog way back in October of 2008, so, I’ve actually been at this for quite some time. I had been a longtime reader of Meg Cabot’s blog and just decided one day that I wanted to start my own. Truthfully, sometimes I am surprised when I realize how long I’ve been blogging, as, well as how much it has helped me to come out of my shell of shyness.

What is your favorite part of book blogging?
What I like most about book blogging would be interacting with my fellow book junkies, and being up to date on all the newest authors and books. Because of book blogging, I have tried so many new authors and even given some books a chance that I probably would not have tried had someone not insisted that I read it.

What type of books do you mainly blog about?

Mainly I blog about young adult and middle grade books, but have been known to feature whatever happens to have caught my eye. Generally, if a book and I cross paths, the odds are very, very likely that I am going to talk about it on my blog regardless of whether of I liked it or not.

What is your favorite book(s)?

Why, oh why, must this question be asked. There have been so many books that I would count as a favorite of mine, but the ones that are eternally in the favorite slot would have to be.
Harry Potter by J.K. Rowlings
The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis
A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle
Death on the Nile by Agatha Christie

What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?
Best thing….One of the best things that has happened to me because of book blogging would have to be being able to work with so many authors, and even meeting a couple of them. Before I started blogging, I never really considered that one could possibly meet or even talk to an author, so, being able to connect with them online has been both exciting and terrifying (especially when trying to set up an interview).

Q: If you could choose one supernatural being/creature to really exists what would it be and why? ex. fae { submitted by @SeeingNight }

I’m scared of actually meeting a supernatural creature, because they are all quite iffy as far as their evil natures. Vampires, well they feed off of humans…so 86 that. Faeries, well I read the Fever series, don’t want those faeries running around my city. Werewolves, well maybe, but I don’t think they would be very sociable to humans. Ok — I’m going with mermaids — that would be pretty cool. As long as they aren’t the kind that sit on the rocks and try to lure sailors to their death type of mermaids.

  1. I thought the same thing. All magical creatures seem to really want to eat humans or mess with them.

  2. Ha I just finished reading Wake so mermaids to me totally say sirens. This one was tough I went for sheers

  3. Great answer this week :)

  4. Great answer! I’m all about the mermaids too! :D My FFs are at Musings on Fantasia and LKHill. Happy Friday!

  5. I thought about mermaids too, but went with witches. I don’t think that there is anything appealing about having a zombie, vampire or werewolf living next door.

  6. I wanted to be a mermaid when I was younger(:

  7. Awesome question this week! I love your answer, though I have to say Mermaids scare the bejeebies out of me! What do they really get up to benath the surface anyway? somehow I doubt they’re as friendly as Disney would have us believe ;)

  8. Ooooh I didn’t even think of mermaids! Excellent choice! I felt the same way you did…way too many scary things to go bump in the night. I loved this question btw. Here is my FF. Old Follower :D Jaclyn @ JC’s Book Haven

  9. Just realized we both picked mermaids as the preferred creature.

Thanks so much for the feature. =)

  10. Hi PJ! I started following you by email a little while ago but this is the first time I’ve participated in the meme. Decided it was time to be more social! =) *waves*

    • And I love the question! I really wanted to go with vampire, but decided on witches. Maybe that Harry Potter marathon is getting to me after all…

  11. Mermaids is a nice safe choice!! lol!! I can’t help it, maybe I like the danger!!

  12. I did love the question as well, but I have to agree with Carmen Jenner Author, Mermaids scare the crap out of me as well. I went with Dragons. I know, odd since I don’t like mermaids, but I have a huge fear of drowning and so I will leave it at that. lol ;)

  13. Joining in for the first time. This is such a great idea.

I went with Brownies – I really could use the help keeping the place clean!

  14. Wait. Are you telling me that mermaids don’t actually already exist? DRAT. I was sure they did. :) I’d be scared about all supernational beings, too.

  15. I thought it was about time to be a bit more social so here I am, for the first time, participating in Feature & Follow Friday. I choose werewolves, because for some reason I’ve always had dreams about becoming a wolf.

    Happy Reading!
    Patricia @ Night Readings

  16. There were some creatures I didn’t even think about when I wrote my post this morning… I blame it on the early time and the lack of coffee!

I’m an old follower stopping by, here’s my FF post.

    Have a fantastic weekend!

  17. I think mermaids are a great choice, can’t cause much havoc! FF

  18. I struggled with this one too!

    Here’s my Follow Friday

  19. Rachel if my BF was to answer this FFF post he would also choose mermaid. He’s a fish enthusiast and collects some beautiful fishes, so I could only imagine the combination of a naked lady and fish…that’s like a dream come true for him LOL

    My FFF post.

    Angelica @ Paperback Princess

    An old follower.

  20. Even though my answer was something much more violent than mermaids, I still think mermaids freak me out a little bit. =) I think they are too close to fish for my taste. And no one has ever answered me question about mermaids and… romance? *shivers*
    Great answer, though!

  21. I definitely wouldn’t want to run into any of KMM fae (unless I had Barrons or Ryordan next to me!) Of course, I don’t think I would want run into any supernaturals unless I had some cool powers of my own.

  26. Mermaids is definitely a safe pick :D awesome choice!

  27. I didn’t even think of mermaids! But that would be cool, they’re pretty…unless they want to drown you!
    Happy Friday :)

  29. I love this question! I’m a giant scaredy cat but I think I pick a pretty awesome creature. ;)

  31. I picked mermaids as well, it would be great to meet them and be able to see how they look like. New Follower :) My FF

  32. Thumbs up for mermaids! I imagine they’d be really beautiful – like the ones in Pirate of the Carribeans’ 3rd movie – but only if they don’t go around eating people.

    New follower via Linky :)
