A Daily Blogger Tip for Visual Stimulation
My blogging tip for today is all about the images. Humans are visual creatures and an image is an added bonus to attract a reader into staying instead of JUMPING aka BOUNCING away. This is why it is always suggested to add a stimulating image to your posts. Hence the book blogger’s propensity for the casual animated gif. Yet, with the fear of copyright infringement and male models suing you for back wages…we, bloggers, can be a little reticent about posting an image.
My suggestion would be, the Free Stock Exchange. Check it out when you are looking for a great image. Always credit the photographer and watch the rights at the bottom of the image. A lot of time all they wish is to be notified.
Check out the Stock.XCHNG

I am in total agreement about images. Not only do they provide visual interest, they break up text-heavy posts. As I tend to ramble on endlessly, having something of visual interest helps to break up that monotony. Well, visually, anyway.
Hmmm, maybe I need to have a designer make a few more visual images that I can include with random posts….
You feed my addiction to design with this post!
oh noes! LOL — I’m trying not to tempt you again…
What a great site – thanks for sharing!
I’d like to add that if you’re handy with a camera, go ahead and make your own photos!!
Yes! Good suggestion.
Thanks for the link – I do love a good blog post with imagery.
Off to check it out.
Some images are a little cheesy, but every now and again you get a big winner.
I’ve not heard of this one, and I always have trouble finding images with clear permissions. Thanks.
Thanks for the tip. I was looking for a photo the other day for a post, and used photobucket. Will give Stock.XCHNG a try and will try try and remember to check the rights and give credits.
The rights is where I get confused. I read them and still don’t understand what they want me to do so I can use the photo. How do you know if they want to be notified and when just giving them credit is fine?
Nice one!
Another good place to get images with an Attribution license is Flickr. But you have to credit the owner (which makes sense, so I’m all right with it).
But copyright is always an issue as there are so many little rules you have to know.
