I personally do not review a book if I DNF it. Sometimes depending on how far I get in a book, I will make notes on Goodreads and add the book–unrated–to a shelf I call “abandoned”. There is only one case where I posted a DNF review, and that was because I read 80-85% of the book before calling it quits.
In most cases, I know whether or not I will DNF a book within the first 10% of the book. Sometimes, it takes a little longer. My most recent DNF took me 38% before I admitted that the book was making me miserable and that I didn’t want to finish it. Even though I read a good chunk of it, I feel I’ve already wasted enough time on a book that I didn’t like and that I don’t want to waste any more on it.
I actually like DNF book reviews; they help me decide if the book is something that might be worth my time, since I will not always agree with every review that I read. I love DNF reviews from The Book Smugglers because all of their reviews are very well thought out–including for their DNFs.
