Desperately Wanting Wednesday, is inspired by the meme Waiting on Wednesday, which was created by Breaking the Spine. But, unlike WOWs, Desperately Wanting Wedneday is not only for releases that I’m waiting on, it’s also for released novels that I just haven’t purchased yet, or might be sitting on my shelf that I want to read, but just haven’t gotten there yet.
I put them on my TBR when I read about them, I might even request them and then maybe I don’t get them. Or I don’t manage to buy them…and then suddenly they’ve released and another hot book shows up and these books are forgotten. But, really — I shouldn’t have passed them up.
Books I missed…
Juliette hasn’t touched anyone in exactly 264 days.
The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.
The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war– and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she’s exactly what they need right now.
Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.
In this electrifying debut, Tahereh Mafi presents a world as riveting as The Hunger Games and a superhero story as thrilling as The X-Men. Full of pulse-pounding romance, intoxicating villainy, and high-stakes choices, Shatter Me is a fresh and original dystopian novel—with a paranormal twist—that will leave readers anxiously awaiting its sequel.
When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring…. until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.
And then he opened his mouth.
Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something…unexpected happens.
The hot alien living next door marks me.
You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.
If I don’t kill him first, that is.
What books did you miss?

Meh. You’re not missing much with Shatter Me. I was disappointed. Maybe I was in a funky reading mood, because a lot of my friends loved it, including those I _thought_ would hate it.
I’ve heard good things about Obsidian, though!
I tend to not like what everyone loves…hmmm
Hmmm, see Shatter Me didn’t rock my face off like it did with EVERYONE else who read it.
But I’ve had Obsidian sitting on my shelf FOREVER!!!! I need to get on it ASAP!
I don’t even own that one. I think I bought the other author’s book…and got confused.
Shatter Me was meh but i am going to read the next one to see it got better. But either way I cared about the bad boy Warner more.
Obsidian is crack and You must read this book
Actually I think your review was what made me put it to the side…but now I kinda want to read it again. LOL
Shatter Me is SO good! Adventure and twisted mind thriller! It would make an awesome movie!
My anticipation is getting worse the more comments I read, thanks LOL.
Shatter Me was a good one, and I actually kind of did the same with it. I got an ARC at the bookstore where I work, and then it sat on my shelf for months! When I picked it up though I was so glad I did! Great post.
I have an ARC too — gah.
I loved both of those books! I thought Tahereh’s writing was beautiful. Obsidian was great and I can’t wait for Onyx!
Ack! See…LOL
I Loved Shatter Me! Such a great book!!
I know, I keep hearing this, LOL…
I’ve had Shatter Me on my shelf forever too. But just finished Obsidian and it was AMAZING!
OOh that makes me what to read it even more. XOXO
I missed Obsidian too. I’ve heard soo many great things about it.
Shatter Me, I read in the beginning of this year and I absolutley loved it! I’m craving the sequel!
I know all this Team Daemon stuff put it back on my radar.
Oh nice! I still have to read Obsidian too! Love the fact that the heroine is a book blogger though! Have heard that much!
Here’s my WoW
Have a GREAT day!
