Desperatly Wanting Wednesday: Second Series Salivations…

Desperatly Wanting Wednesday, hosted by Parajunkee's ViewDesperately Wanting Wednesday, is inspired by the meme Waiting on Wednesday, which was created by Breaking the Spine. But, unlike WOWs, Desperately Wanting Wedneday is not only for releases that I’m waiting on, it’s also for released novels that I just haven’t purchased yet, or might be sitting on my shelf that I want to read, but just haven’t gotten there yet.

This is my I MUST HAVE THIS SECOND IN THE SERIES!!! NOW NOW NOW Post…

Number Two…second verse, same as the first? I hope not…

Ashen Winter

It’s been over six months since the eruption of the Yellowstone supervolcano. Alex and Darla have been staying with Alex’s relatives, trying to cope with the new reality of the primitive world so vividly portrayed in Ashfall, the first book in this series. It’s also been six months of waiting for Alex’s parents to return from Iowa. Alex and Darla decide they can wait no longer and must retrace their journey into Iowa to find and bring back Alex’s parents to the tenuous safety of Illinois. But the landscape they cross is even more perilous than before, with life-and-death battles for food and power between the remaining communities. When the unthinkable happens, Alex must find new reserves of strength and determination to survive.

Ashes

The Apocalypse does not end.
The Changed will grow in numbers.
The Spared may not survive.

Even before the EMPs brought down the world, Alex was on the run from the demons of her past and the monster living in her head. After the world was gone, she thought Rule was a sanctuary for her and those she’d come to love.

But she was wrong.

Now she’s in the fight of her life against the adults who would use her, the survivors who don’t trust her, and the Changed who would eat her alive.

Welcome to Shadows, the second book in the haunting apocalyptic Ashes Trilogy: where no one is safe and humans may be the worst of the monsters.

  1. I like the covers for these books. Maybe someone nice will give you their copy when they are done reading them.

  2. I hope you get that second book!! I haven’t heard Ashen Winter but it looks really good! This may also be really nqggy, but I really hate when the covers aren’t really related somehow because I don’t usually associate them with a series. Anyway, that is totally off topic, but yeah. -.-

  3. I HAVE to start reading Mike Mullin’s books. I have heard so many awesome things about them!

I hadn’t heard of Ilsa J. Bick before, but I’ll definitely have to check out her trilogy. :)

  4. Just commenting again, since Disqus likes to eat my comments for breakfast and burp them back out into the trash can. -.- Anyway, I meant to say that I hope you get Shadows, and it may be really naggy of me, but I really hate when two covers in a series are really unrelated because when I have them next to each other on my shelf (IF I have them next to each other on my shelf) it would be so annoying to have one and the other mismatching. o.O

  5. Dude!!! I still totally need to read the first book in the Ashes trilogy!! Gah!

  6. I need to pick up Ashes and I am afraid to start reading Ashen Winter, I have an ARC but I remember all the stuff that happened in Ashfall and I am just worried for the characters. Who knows what Mike is going to put them through.

  7. I haven’t read either series but am told both books are absolutely amazing! I’m especially getting pressured to read Ashfall. Though if it makes you desperate for the sequel, maybe I’ll wait until it’s out so I don’t have to be. :)

  8. SO excited for Ashen Winter! I loved the first one so hard! One of my fav books ever!!

  9. Both of those are ones I can’t wait to read, and are actually in my TBR pile from BEA. I’m trying to spread books out based on when they were published, so I’m reading and posting the reviews closer to actual publishing date.

  10. Those look awesome! I’m waiting on the second in the OBSIDIAN series. And I also can’t wait for the second ANNA DRESSED IN BLOOD. Both can’t come soon enough!
