Review

‘Patient Zero’ kept me on my toes from the opening paragraph:

When you have to kill the same terrorist twice in one week, then there’s either something wrong with your skills or something wrong with your world.

From that point on it was a dash from one side of the globe to the other all in the hopes that Joe Ledger will save the world from the impending zombie apocalypse being cooked up by a bunch of radical terrorists and funded by a large pharmaceutical company. Maberry has a way of taking a tried and true genre and turning it on it’s head. You aren’t going to want to pass this one up. It was both horrifying and exhilarating, made even worse by the fact that I did this one via audiobook. Creepy! Joe Ledger was a larger than life, no holds barred character that I wanted to both profess my undying love and run from at the same moment. It’s time to get on the zombie train, peeps and you might find that ‘Patient Zero’ is just your ticket.

I would highly recommend this for a transition into the zombie genre, from horror or even Spy Novels, this could be a great push towards the zombie apocalypse.

Recommended for adult readers, there is gore, trash talking and some intimate interactions. Maberry pens a young adult zombie series, this isn’t it.
