Desperately Wanting Wednesday is not only for releases that I’m waiting on, it’s also for already released novels that I just haven’t purchased yet, or gotten to.
In light of my Books to Movie Challenge 2012 here are the books I need to read so I can watch their movie counterparts with knowledge and grace…
Books to Movies 2012
While Abraham Lincoln is widely lauded for saving a Union and freeing millions of slaves, his valiant fight against the forces of the undead has remained in the shadows for hundreds of years. That is, until Seth Grahame-Smith stumbled upon The Secret Journal of Abraham Lincoln, and became the first living person to lay eyes on it in more than 140 years.
Using the journal as his guide and writing in the grand biographical style of Doris Kearns Goodwin and David McCullough, Seth has reconstructed the true life story of our greatest president for the first time-all while revealing the hidden history behind the Civil War and uncovering the role vampires played in the birth, growth, and near-death of our nation.
Being immortal isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Life’s hard for a Greek god in the 21st century: nobody believes in you any more, even your own family doesn’t respect you, and you’re stuck in a delapidated hovel in north London with too many siblings and not enough hot water. But for Artemis (goddess of hunting, professional dog walker), Aphrodite (goddess of beauty, telephone sex operator) and Apollo (god of the sun, TV psychic) there’s no way out…Until a meek cleaner and her would-be boyfriend come into their lives, and turn the world literally upside down. “Gods Behaving Badly” is that rare thing, a charming, funny, utterly original first novel that satisfies the head and the heart.
What books do you have to “catch-up” on before the movie comes out?

I saw that preview for the Abe Lincoln one, I am quite intrigued and I think I’ll have to find that book!
I’ve read Abe Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and it was a really great read and I cannot wait till the film comes out. The twists the author made in Abe’s history and the reasons for the Civil War were really fascinating. I’m glad the folks behind the movies are people who’s work I admire.
Gods Behaving Badly sounds interesting! I’m all for anything Mythology based.
No linky? Am I missing it?
I totally forgot about Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. I think I scrubbed it from my memory after seeing the FDR trailer.
I loved Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter. I can’t wait to see what they do with the movie.
I’ve read Gods Behaving Badly, I didn’t know there was a movie for it! God that book has a bathroom scene with Aphrodite . . . *wanders off to find the movie*
GBB? Sounds cute. I wonder why I’ve never heard of it. Great post!
Oh man, I’m still really waiting on a lot that haven’t even been updated in awhile, like Shiver, Wicked Lovely, possibly Vampire Academy! And for the longest time I’ve been waiting on Benighted, but I am starting to think that one is now a no-go!
Here’s my WoW
Have a GREAT day!

I’ve seen the Previews of Abraham Lincoln the Vampire Hunter and can’t wait to see it. I’ll definitely be reading the book before though. Hubby thinks it looks stupid, but that’s because he has no taste. =)
Right now I’m reading Hunger Games (because I’m behind the curve…LOL) so I can see the movie next week when my hubby is off work. Need someone to watch the girls so I can enjoy it. =)

I’m already too late. I still need to read the Hunger Games. I have all 3 but have yet to get to them. I’m a sad panda…
I also have Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, the book seems interesting and has an original take on vampires.
