Welcome to the Feature & Follow
Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature & Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers — but you have to know — the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.
The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee’s View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to show off more new blogs!
How does this work? First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools — keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them “hi” in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you!
What sets this Hop apart from others, is our Feature. Each week we will showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Who is our Feature today? Find out below. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow our Features and you must follow the hosts (Parajunkee & Alison Can Read) as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your #FF post. A lot of blogs are transitioning to WordPress in which they do not have the luxury of GFC, so an RSS subscription is appreciated or if you choose an email subscription. If you don’t have GFC please state in your post how you would like to be followed.
Our Feature – Farhana @ BookChowDown
Hi, my name is Farhana, (nickname Fran) and as I’m sure you’ve guessed I love to read. I started my blog to record my thoughts about books and because what better way to pay tribute to books than to blog about them? There’s also the fantastic book blogging community and I like meeting other reading enthusiasts.
My favourite books are…Harry Potter. I know, typical right? Currently I enjoy reading genres such as dystopia, paranormal, contemporary and romance, mainly under the YA category. When I’m not book blogging or reading, I’m studying (a lot, I’m a geek;p), playing tennis, reading french comics (I’m a bit weird too) and watching TV online. Oh and interesting fact, I am completely English, have an accent like Hugh Grant (not manly though), but I was born in San Francisco so I’m actually American too:D
Q: What would your prefer: reading your favorite book over and over again until you got sick of it OR reading 100s of mediocre books? And why?
Reading my favorite book until I got tired of it. Life is too short to read mediocre books. Fight the stupids.
If you have followed me via GFC you will no longer be able to get my feed via GFC or Blogger. I ask that if you use a reader, like Google Reader – just follow my RSS directly. That would be super!
<—- Just clicky clicky!
We have a new button, so update your blogs if you are used to doing this meme!
<a href="http://parajunkee.com/category/ff" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4019/4710921228_e3140444bf_o.png" /></a>RULES
To join the fun and make new book blogger friends, just follow these simple rules:
- (Required) Follow the Follow My Book Blog Friday Hosts {Parajunkee & Alison Can Read}
- (Required) Follow our Featured Bloggers
- Put your Blog name & URL in the Linky thing. You can also grab the code if you would like to insert it into your posts.
- Grab the button up there and place it in a post, this post is for people to find a place to say “hi” in your comments and that they are now following you.
- If you are using WordPress or another CMS that doesn’t have GFC (Google Friends Connect) state in your posts how you would like to be followed
- Follow Follow Follow as many as you can, as many as you want, or just follow a few. The whole point is to make new friends and find new blogs. Also, don’t just follow, comment and say hi. Another blogger might not know you are a new follower if you don’t say “HI”
- If someone comments and says they are following you, be a dear and follow back. Spread the Love…and the followers
- If you’re new to the follow friday hop, comment and let me know, so I can stop by and check out your blog!

Life is definitely too short for the mediocre!
Happy FF!!
LOL @ “fight the stupids.” But its very true. And I completely agree. I’m a serial re-reader.
Totally agree!! I would so rather read my favorites over and over then read 100 mediocre books!!
Hola! Ladies… yes, down with those crappy mediocre books!
ha! Love the quote. I totally agree with you! Rather read a favorite than suffer through a dud! Happy reading

Oh yes, this is so true. Life’s too dang short for unworthy books.

Totally agree. If I already know the others are mediocre, for sure, why bother?
Have a great weekend!

I am new to the Follow Friday this is actually my second week doing it. I am also pretty new to the book blogging world. Thanks for hosting the Feature Friday! I agree with you who needs mediocre books when you can read amazing ones over and over again.
I am new to Feature & Follow. Here is my post on FF.
Vidya @ Books Are Magic
Yep, I completely agree with you on that. The problem with mediocre books is that you don’t exactly love them, and you don’t exactly hate them. You’re just stuck there. Blah. haha. This was actually a bit of a tough question for me to answer though. I’d still be sad if I was stuck reading only one book for years compared to the chance to reading many. I still chose reading my favorite over the mediocre ones either way.
Ohh… Thank you, thank you, thank you, for finding that LinkyFollowers by the way! It’s a fantastic alternative! I know I shouldn’t have fretted so much about the GFC thing–but really, I kind of did…mostly because some publishers are so picky about the number of followers, etc. And it worried me a bit, I guess. *shrugs* I really like that Linky though. I’m following you there as well now.
Hope you have a fantastic weekend! Sorry for being a rambling butt.

Completely agree. My time is precious and I don’t want to waste it on the mediocre.
Hello!
I have blogging about anything & everything at: http://www.mohur.blogspot.in/
But now I have started a new blog only for Book reviews at: http://b00kr3vi3ws.blogspot.in/
Would love to have some new friends there too.
Following you Courtesy of Feature & Follow! Posted #1 on my blog too.
I entered quite some time back, yet its nit appearing anywhere on the ever growing list? Can I know where I might have gone wrong because this is my first attempt at Blog HOP
I don’t know what to say, maybe try another browser.
There’s so many mediocre books out there. Maybe we should just create a unique rating system for these books because I’m always confused on how I should review them. Mediocre at it’s best? Perhaps.
Definitely agree with you. I couldn’t waste my time on 100 mediocre books. I prefer reading my favorite book over and over again. You always learn something new.

This was such a hard question!
I’ve been doing this hop for a few weeks now, this is my third. But! I’m still shiny and new!

I would much rather read a favorite book. Mediocre books are a chore and life’s too short for that. Reading is supposed to be an escape from your real life.
I’m not a huge fan of mediocre books, but I can’t pick a favorite book, so I went with volume of quality.
Aaron (Dreaming About Other Worlds).
Yes! Fight the stupids!!! I couldn’t agree more!
My FF!
I have read enough mediocre books for a lifetime and there is nothing worse than a book that doesn’t move. I’d choose an old favorite any day.
LOVE your answer, new follower via RSS. New Follower! Check out my FF post and follow me back via GFC if possible at:

Hi! I’m new to the hop too. I know what you mean about wasting time reading mediocre books, but I’d still take the stack of hundreds of books hoping to find one I loved.
Thanks for hosting the hop! My blog is at cheriecolyer.blogspot.com.
This is my first post for Feature & Follow. I stopped by bookchowdown, I’m following. Also, their blog button is cute. My post is at http://jessysbookends.blogspot.com/2012/02/feature-follow-friday.html

It’s an HTML string Rachel —
<a href="YOURURL">My #FF Post</a>This is a toughie. I know that if I consider a book to be a favorite, then I must have already read said book about a dozen times, if not more. I know for a fact that I wouldn’t mind reading it endlessly, but if it’s my favorite, why would I want to read it to the point that I hate it? I mean there are SO many books out in the world. Yes, not all of them are going to be a home run, but at least I’ll have diversity. I will have explored a hundred new worlds, gone on countless new adventures, lived more lives than I could ever dream to live, fallen in and out of love with even more characters, and learned that much more for it. So why limit myself to just one thing I already know I like? It’s like saying that I will never eat anything other than PB&J because I don’t want to risk eating something that’s just ok, not great. Even if I don’t like it or if the book is straddling the line of like and dislike, I would like the opportunity. After all, books are about letting go of your safety blanket and delving into an entirely new and different experience.
Sorry for rambling.
Agreed. I simply cannot read mediocre.
