Welcome to the Feature & Follow
Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature & Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers — but you have to know — the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.
The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee’s View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to show off more new blogs!
How does this work? First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools — keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them “hi” in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you!
What sets this Hop apart from others, is our Feature. Each week we will showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Who is our Feature today? Find out below. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow our Features and you must follow the hosts (Parajunkee & Alison Can Read) as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your #FF post. A lot of blogs are transitioning to WordPress in which they do not have the luxury of GFC, so an RSS subscription is appreciated or if you choose an email subscription. If you don’t have GFC please state in your post how you would like to be followed.
Our Feature -Book’d Out

Hi, my name is Shelleyrae of Book’d Out. As a thirty something, married, mother of four I live a quiet life at home in Australia (in amongst moments of sheer chaos) which I love, but with a book in my hand I can be a vampire’s mistress; a detective on the hunt for a serial killer; a damsel in distress or even a teenager again. I have always loved reading but never had anyone to talk to about books with. No one really wanted to listen if a book made me cry or rage or laugh or filled my heart with joy. *insert sob here* So like everyone who has something to say but feels no one is listening, I started a blog. I read an eclectic mix though I prefer urban fantasy, mystery and contemporary fiction, I find it impossible to choose favourites though. I am as happy to read ebooks (on my iPod) as I am print, from backlists to bestsellers, mostly if there is a story to tell I am willing to read it.
Q: Which book genre do you avoid at all costs and why?
Memoirs. Gah! I don’t think there is anyone I’ve every cared about enough to read their “memoir”. I’ll read someone’s biography, that another person has written, preferably notable historical figures. But, I won’t do autobiographies or memoirs.
If you have followed me via GFC you will no longer be able to get my feed via GFC or Blogger. I ask that if you use a reader, like Google Reader – just follow my RSS directly. That would be super!
<—- Just clicky clicky!
We have a new button, so update your blogs if you are used to doing this meme!
<a href="http://parajunkee.com/category/ff" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4019/4710921228_e3140444bf_o.png" /></a>RULES
To join the fun and make new book blogger friends, just follow these simple rules:
- (Required) Follow the Follow My Book Blog Friday Hosts {Parajunkee & Alison Can Read}
- (Required) Follow our Featured Bloggers
- Put your Blog name & URL in the Linky thing. You can also grab the code if you would like to insert it into your posts.
- Grab the button up there and place it in a post, this post is for people to find a place to say “hi” in your comments and that they are now following you.
- If you are using WordPress or another CMS that doesn’t have GFC (Google Friends Connect) state in your posts how you would like to be followed
- Follow Follow Follow as many as you can, as many as you want, or just follow a few. The whole point is to make new friends and find new blogs. Also, don’t just follow, comment and say hi. Another blogger might not know you are a new follower if you don’t say “HI”
- If someone comments and says they are following you, be a dear and follow back. Spread the Love…and the followers
- If you’re new to the follow friday hop, comment and let me know, so I can stop by and check out your blog!
Happy Follow Friday! Come back at midnight CST for the Facebook & Twitter hop!!

I don’t like autobiographies or memoirs either! Gah! I can tolerate ones that are written by someone else though.
Happy FF!!!
It’s something about them writing about themselves. Like you are going to tell the truth —!
I am totally the same! I can’t get away from memoirs, autobiographies, biographies fast enough. They are my kryptonite.

Historical fiction. Hate it, loathe it.
Jennifer @ The Bawdy Book Blog
GAH! I put in the wrong URL and accidentally clicked the Twitter link instead. Please delete my entry. #38
This is my first time joining the Feature and Follow. I’m looking forward to making new friends!!
Hi Rachel! My first time on Follow Friday too
Happy FF
Good answer. I don’t think I’ve ever read any memoirs.
UGH! I really need to get some sleep. I have no idea what the heck I put in the link but really screwed up. Please delete entry #61. I will do it again and get it right this time. So sorry.
Hmm personally I don’t have that much experiences with memoirs either. but they don’t sound that interesting to me.

*wrinkles nose * No, don’t think I could sit through one of these either haha =D
Tristan @ Reads With Wreckless Abandon
I’m not a huge fan of memoirs either. I tend to fall asleep. O_o
My Hop
I guess I didn’t even think of memoirs. I can’t say that I’ve had much of an interest in reading those at all. Have I ever read one? I can’t say that I have. Huh. Maybe I shouldn’t knock it till I’ve tried it…
I rarely read memoirs as well. I find it so hard to enjoy them! New follower via Networked blogs!
Celine @ Forget-me-not
Here is my FF
I’ve only read the memoirs of Augusten Burroughs (Running With Scissors)…and that was after I had watched the movie. Other than that, it’s not my favorite genre either.
~Jess @ Gone with the Words | My TGIF/FF post!(If you followed my blog via GFC you will no longer be able to get my feed via GFC or Blogger and I would be sad to lose you as a follower! Click HERE to follow my new feed! THANK YOU!)
There are only a couple of memoirs I can think of that I have enjoyed, so I don’t usually read those myself.
I feel the same way about Memoirs! They definitely aren’t my cup of tea!
I can’t also make myself pick up one too.
Hopping through. I seem to be in the minority. I love memoirs and biographies. To each her own!
My Hop
I do read a little bit in the memoir genre. Very limited though. My two favorites are Drew Brees and Sean Payton’s books (I don’t know if they qualify as memoirs or not but they were really good and I’m not really a Saints fan…it’s all Packers, Steelers and whoever can beat Tom Brady that week).
I’m participating in my first ever Friday Follow and I just started book blogging on Tuesday. Happy weekend!
I’ve found a couple over the years that weren’t too bad but yeah overall I’m with you on that. Biographies I can do but memories and autobiographies for the most part I just want to roll my eyes a bit.
Herding Cats & Burning Soup
I’m not a big fan of autobiographies either. I tried one at the end of last year and had to put it down half way through I was just getting so bored. I suppose it depends on the subject matter and if their life has been of interest or hit a specific note with me.
I definitely agree with you about the memoirs and autobiographies. You have to be someone very important for it to be worth it.
Daniel @ Bound By Words
Yep, I try to avoid memoirs and autobiographies as well!
It’s my first FF – nice to meet you all!
Vicky @ Books, Biscuits & Tea
Hi! I am new to the Feature & Follow Friday. Please check out mine here: http://www.lucyswing.com/2012/01/feature-follow-friday.html
Thanks to all!
Hi, I’m new here – looking forward to meeting everyone!
Whoops – I’d love it if you could follow using Networked Blogs, or the old fashioned way via email. I blog about inexpensive wines on Fridays, and about life one other day in the week. Sometimes about writing, lol. Cheers everyone!
Rachel, you should probably know that the code you give for the FF logo leads to the old picture, the one with the girl relaxing, and not the new logo you have displayed in this post.
Happy friday! There are a few memoirs that I found to be really good, but that had to stem from a really deep love of the person first! If it were a memoir of someone I was only “meh” about (or that I don’t even know?! I don’t understand how people can do that…) I don’t think it would hold my attention at all.
My FF
Hello Folks!
I’m new to ‘blog hops’ but my Word Press anniversary is Feb 10th. I appreciate new followers, whether you browse by e-mail subscription or right here. (I don’t use Twitter ect. Especially with dial-up internet, one forum is all I have time for).
Straight romance books make me gag, in agreement with many of you! I write several articles to share authors I do love. Please enjoy my lastest article, right here. http://cmriedel.wordpress.com/2012/01/26/phyllis-a-whitney-like-wind/
I’ve only read a few memoirs or autobiographies: I read Malcolm X’s autobiography (which was written by Alex Haley), and that was pretty self-servingly bad. On the other hand, Tickled to Death to Go by a former World War I cavalryman was good, and Roald Dahl’s memoir Boy: Tales of Childhood was excellent.
My Kryptonite is Christian fiction. Especially stealth Christian fiction.
Aaron (Dreaming About other Worlds).
Hi I am new to follow me friday, here is my link:

I also do not like autobiographies.
Hope you are having a good friday!

I really like the fact that FF comes with these questions!
margie
I’m not interested in autobiographies either; and don’t spook me with any thrillers! or you’ll have to scrape me off the ceiling! ha!
Thanks for hosting
I love to read all types of things – except for things that make me blush excessively. ha!
My FF is HERE.
I don’t like memoirs or very much nonfiction in general. I don’t like many classics because I was forced to read them in school so now that I don’t have to read them, I don’t really want to.
Check out my post:
http://deadtreesandsilverscreens.blogspot.com/2012/01/what-im-not-reading.html
I don’t mind autobiographies… depends on the person really. I’m about to read Rob Lowe’s but this is for research purposes for my second novel – my male character being an A-list hollywood celebrity (if I can pull it off lol!)
Right, now going to try and work out how to put this on my blog… I’m a bit tired, so this may go pear shaped. And it’s no longer Friday… I realise that. Will it matter?
Love your blog. I’m brand new to blogging (but not reviewing) and your tips are really informative.
