-
‘Aftertime‘ by Sophie Littlefield – A gem from Luna Books, Sophie Littlefield puts a new perspective on the zombie novel and introduces you to some memorable characters. Under $7 on #kindle makes for a great kindle buy.

More Info: Web | Blog | Twitter - ‘The First Days: As the World Dies’ by Rhiannon Frater – Like ‘Aftertime’, ‘The First Days’ has a strong female(s) lead and is a new look at zombie fiction. I actually really enjoyed the in-your-face perspective of TFD out of all the novels listed here.

More Info: Web | Twitter - ‘The Stupidest Angel (Pine Cove)‘ by Christopher Moore – Hilarity with zombies! Who can beat that? Christopher Moore is one of the first comedy authors that I’ve read and enjoyed. ‘The Stupidest Angel’ is one of his best works.
- ‘Deadtown (A Deadtown Novel)‘ by Nancy Holzner – Is one of the most unique zombie novels I’ve read where it pairs Urban Fantasy with the zombie legend. I highly recommend this gem to UF fans.
Must Read Young Adult Zombie Fiction
- ‘Enclave‘ by Ann Aguirre – So far, ‘Enclave’ is holding strong as the best book of 2011 for me, yes it does have stiff competition, but this one rocked my world. You can’t pass this one up, dystopian fan, zombie fan, young adult fan — all of you should get on this book.

More info: Web | Facebook | Twitter - ‘Ashes‘ by Ilsa J. Bick – Highly original and in competition with ‘Enclave’ as the top spot, ‘Ashes’ was a great read with a unique twist on the “end-of-world” scenario. The zombies weren’t as prolific as they are in other zombie fiction novels but you do have some gruesome moments.

More info: Web | Facebook | Twitter - ‘The Forest of Hands and Teeth‘ by Carrie Ryan – Scared me silly! Zombies eating innocent villagers has to top my scare level. This one is unique, horrific and quaint all in one package. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed.

Purchase Online - ‘Rot & Ruin‘ by Jonathan Maberry – One of the more interesting takes on zombies I’ve read in awhile. Maberry takes a more spiritual look at the walking dead and takes us through the coming of age story of a teenage boy. Put this on your must-read list.

Awesome list. I’ve read quite a few adult zombie books, but I’ve got to get on board with the YA zombies. I’m missing out!
Hey Parajunkee,
Oh, I’m so glad that you like Rot and Ruin. That was what first introduced me to zombie books, and I think I got lucky. I was really hesitant b/c I’m not a big zombie fan, but after reading about Benny I loved it! I’ve got Enclave waiting in my TBR pile, so I hope that one turns out just as good. Hope you have a great Thanksgiving!
Ninja Girl
I actually checked out Stupid Angel last year around this time. I couldn’t get through it. But it’s not because I hated it. I plan to give it a second chance someday. I have Enclave on loan from a friend and plan to read it soon.
Cant you give more Men Zombie writers some Love or do we have to do a Occupy movement LOL
=)
Like what ya want, Its just good to point out both sides of the Greener Grass to the Masses..
Glad to hear Enclave is still at the top for you. Same here. I’ve read other great dystopians but that’s still the one where I think about the characters and story long after I finished.
awesome! I own all of those except the Stupidest Angel – which I will now have to pick up!
Thanks for this, Rach! I didn’t know there was so much zombie fic out there! I’m a huge World War Z fan, so I’ll be putting your compilations to good use!
Love,
your cuz.
