The cake topper, so-to-speak was a book called ‘Darkfall’ by Dean Koontz. The book covers a winter landscape and a city stalked by what the authorities fear is a psychopath. But as odd sounds are heard and silver eyes are seen the true horror of what is killing becomes known. Koontz is one of the masters of horror and if you are looking for some thrills and chills his books are where to meander towards. I would highly recommend his earlier titles, because like a good deal of authors their earlier work has something to prove – so it will stick with you.
Koontz’s timing and suspense are what keep you enthralled and the graphic detail that he goes into will chill you to the bone. Koontz can just paint a picture of horrific proportions that is completely evil.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Recommended for horror fans, there are explicit scenes of violence and language. I read this one when I was young and I’m not scarred for life.
Love love love Dean Koontz…although either I am getting old or his books are getting a bit more gruesome these days!

I loved Darkfall. I was such a huge Dean Koontz fan for ages and I think I've read well over 20 of his books. Haven't read him for awhile, but seeing Melissa's comment above, I may have to get back into his works. I hated the waiting.
Loved The Door to December, too. He is such an amazing writer and loved almost all of his earlier books.

I must have missed your site revamp. It looks amazing. Never been much of a Dean Koontz girl but I love Stephen King. I think I might have written him a fan letter when I was ten (probably horrifying him that a ten year old was reading his work)!
My all time favorite book by Dean Koontz is Odd Thomas, it's one of my all time favorite books period. But the Koontz book that scared me most when I was a kid was Cold Fire, I still remember every detail of that book. Koontz is more hit or miss for me nowadays (loved What the Night Knows, disliked Your Heart Belongs to Me), but he helped shape my childhood and teenage nightmares.
I love Dean Koontz he is definitely a master!
